(Mannington, West Virginia) Smoke from mine shown. Attempts to seal mine openings to be resumed. Company representatives and union representatives defense mine's safety record. [UMW Safety Director Lewis EVANS - says mine won't be sealed until all possible tries made to contact men to effect rescue or recovery.] Families listen to news conference over loudspeaker Drills used to enter mine's main tunnel. If any miners survived, fresh air and good could be received this way. To break through Saturday
