(Studio) Demand for immediate evacuation by residents of Love Canal reported.
REPORTER: Max Robinson

(Niagara Falls, New York) Chromosomal damage to large number of residents tested examined; films shown. [Barbara QUIMBY - comments.] Residents reported asking that area be declared a disaster area with accompanying-aid for relocation. [Debbie CERRILLO - notes her house bordered the canal.] Details of residents' further demands given. [Lois GIBBS - comments.] Hope by remaining residents that they'll be out of homes by Friday mentioned.

(DC) Lack of action in government qtrs. about situation at Love Canal examined. [Senator Daniel P. MOYNIHAN - relates what he was told by authorities.] Environmental Protection Agency scientists reported en route to Houston to verify genetic tests in anticipation of decision on evacuation. [Researcher Dr. Dante PICCIANO - says residents should leave.] Govt. noted not yet enacting regulations designed to prevent recurrence of such environmental disasters despite having had 4 years to do so.
