(Studio) Republican convention noted having platform that doesn't support ERA and calls for constitutional ban on abortion.

(Detroit, Michigan) Gerald Ford said firmly rejecting vice president nomination during mtg. today with Ronald Reagan; Ford reported recommending George Bush. Senator Richard Lugar thought fading from list of contenders; Reagan's activities today, include private session with Henry Kissinger, outlined. [KISSINGER - comments on foreign affairs experience.] Reagan's campaign efforts with Detroit's unemployed auto workers and with pro-ERA Republican women noted. [Representative Margaret HECKLER - comments on meeting] Reagan's meeting with black Republicans mentioned.

(Detroit, Michigan) Support for Bush as vice president and his denial that be's become Reagan's choice examined. [BUSH - comments.] Bush's schedule today, incl. meeting with Reagan's home delegation, cited. [BUSH - campaigns.] His support of Republican nominee stated. [BUSH - comments.]

(Detroit, Michigan) Supportive efforts by Reagan surrogates such as John Connally reported [CONNALLY - campaigns. for Reagan.] Dispute in Illinois delegation with regard to loyalty oath on abortion by federal judges examined. [Delegates Sheldon GARDNER, Tim SHEEHAN, Charles PERCY, Henry HYDE - debate issue.] Delegation said rejecting attempt to remove statement on judges from the platform; New York delegation's rejection of effort to put ERA back into platform noted.
