(Reno: Dan Lothian) A lawsuit brought by Dereck Henkle† against the school district of Reno, Nevada, for failing to protect him from harassment for being gay featured; statistics on harassment of gay high school students cited. [HENKLE – describes the abuse he suffered as a high school student.] [School superintendent Jim HAGER‡- says we’ve made changes so it won’t happen again.] [Henkle’s attorney Peter OBSTLER†- says districts cannot keep their head in the sand when abuse is happening.]
