(Studio) Senator Republicans to pick new minority leader from Senators Howard Baker and Hugh Scott. 43 have vote.

(DC) Post incls. new office, $49,500 year, and chauffeur-driven limousine. Scott has liberal support. [SCOTT - says he has across-the-bd. support. Confident, but not over-confident.] Baker has support of young moderates and old conservatives. [BAKER - says it isn't classic confrontation.] Race may be decided on 3 or 4 conservative fence-sitters.
