(Studio) Reinstitution of draft registration 1 year ago recalled. Failure of many to register said now bringing Justice Department action.

(DC) Show trials by Justice Department said being considered. Selections said coming from 150 known not to have registered. These said warned. Possible penalty noted. [Selective Service System director Bernard ROSTKER - comments. Says Iran and Afghanistan situations have caused 1st year of draft registrations to go well basically.] Reinstitution of draft itself considered. All-vol. army said not working. Senator Barry Goldwater said to have changed mind with regard to vol. services; now thinks draft necessary. [GOLDWATER - confirms statement.] 1985 said believed earliest possible date.
