(Los Angeles: Brian Williams) The death of hockey legend Herb Brooks, coach of the 1980 US Olympic team, reported.

(Salt Lake City: Tom Brokaw) An encore presentation of a story on Brooks’s return to coaching to lead the 2002 American hockey team presented; scenes shown from the “miracle on ice” game in which the underdog US team beat the Russians in the 1980 Olympics. [BROOKS - says the 1980 Olympics will be his measuring moment; says he doesn’t want to limit his life to not accept other challenges.] [In 1980, BROOKS - delivers pep talk to players.]
