(Studio) Consumer price index reported indicating solid progress against inflation. Admin. said displeased economy community slow in recognizing it.

(NYC) Positive aspects of inflation decline given in graphs. Rebates on autos and falling gasoline prices credited with inflation decrease and said result of recession. [Commerce Department economy Robert ORTNER - notes other reasons for decline.] [NAM Jerry JASINOWSKI - says administration must be given credit.] [AFL-CIO Ann DRAPER - says administration must also take blame for recession.] Yr.'s inflation said thought by econs. to be about 7 per cent and to continue falling.
