(Studio) Democrats retain Congress control. Republicans win 5 Senator seats; Democrats in control 57-42. 1 seat undecided. Senator Everett Dirksen wins reelection against Illinois Attorney General Senator J. William Fulbright also reelected. Senator Joseph Clark lost, as did Senator Mike Monroney. Race between Senator Wayne Morse and Robert Packwood undecided. Senator Barry Goldwater reelected. Republicans gain 4 House seats; Democrats control 243-192. Speaker House John McCormack reelected to 21st term. Adam C. Powell reelected; 1 of 9 black Democrats in House Shirley Chisholm to be lst black woman in Congress
