(Studio) Beginning of START talks between United States and USSR announced for June.
REPORTER: Frank Reynolds

(DC) President Reagan's announcement of talks during his appearance at Arlington National Cemetery in honor of Memorial Day examined. [REAGAN - announces beginning of strategic arms reduction (START) talks in June.] Negotiations said held in Geneva, Switzerland; President noted agreeing to honor unratified Strategic Arms Limitation Talks (SALT) II treaty if USSR does likewise. [REAGAN - hopes for safer world.] Implications of President's remarks considered.
