(Studio) Terrorist bombing of Capitol building near Senator chamber reported.
REPORTER: Peter Jennings

(DC) Details of bombing examined; films, diagrams shown. Damage to Senator Robert Byrd's office mentioned. Potential disaster had Senator been in session as orginally planned noted. [Senator Howard BAKER, BYRD - react to event.] Increased security in building today noted; Armed Resistance Unit reported claiming responsibility. Its communique noted opposing US imperialism in Grenada, Central America and Lebanon; same organization reported claiming responsibility for April bombing at Fort McNair. Its apparent role in series of New York City bombings last year considered; authorities thought believing members are survivors of Weather Underground, which claimed responsibility for 1971 bombing of Capitol.
