(DC) Billie Hall noted learning just prior to her testimony before committee that son Brandon has received liver donor. [HALL - notes others won't be as fortunate as her son.] Efforts to financial Brandon's transplant and find donor described. [John BRODERICK - is repulsed by Army insurance's refusal to pay for daughter Adriane's needed transplant surgery.] [Dr. John STARZL - notes cost of keeping recipient alive without transplant.] Committee said asking Defense Department to grant exception and pay for Adriane Broderick's transplant; their criticism of system noted.
