[BUSH – says Syria is trying to get back into Lebanon; urges Israel to use caution so the government of Lebanon can survive this crisis.] Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice’s upcoming trip to the region mentioned.

(Damascus: Richard Roth) Syria’s response to accusations from the White House & Israel that it is sponsoring Hizballah featured; scenes shown from Damascus of posters of Syria’s president & Hizballah leader Hassan Nasrallah. [In interview, Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal MIQDAD†- denies supplying Hizballah with weapons; tells the US not to impose its views or give Syria orders.]

(Haifa: Lara Logan) Hizballah’s rocket attacks in northern Israel featured; scenes shown from Nahariya of people running, burning buildings & emergency crews gathering remains, and from Haifa, where the train depot was struck again. [Nahariya RESIDENT – comments on a man killed while running to a shelter.] [Israeli defense analyst Alon BEN DAVID†- compares the image of a bold Hizballah to that of the Israeli military striking civilian infrastructure while being caught unprepared for strikes by a small guerrilla organization.]

(Nahariya: Sharyn Alfonsi) The stress for Nahariya residents caused by Hizballah’s rocket attacks featured; scenes shown from inside a bomb shelter and people running in as rockets exploded nearby. [Nahariya resident Kineret SASON††- comments on staying in the shelter for 7 days.]
