Rogers; Secretary Defense, Melvin Laird; Secretary Treasury, David Kennedy; Attorney Gnl., John Mitchell; Postmaster Gnl., Winton Blount (P. O. may come out of pols.); Secretary Int., Walter Hickel (Rogers Morton considered); Secretary Agriculture, Clifford Hardin; Secretary Commerce Maurice Stans; Secretary Labor, George Shultz; Secretary HEW, Robert Finch; Secretary HUD, Geo Romney; Secretary Trans., George Volpe. No Democrats, no Negroes, no women in cabinet. Henry Jackson turned down Secretary Defense post. Cabinet characterized.
