CIA recalled recently revealing plot by D'Aubuisson's associates to assassinate United States ambassador to El Salvador. [D'AUBUISSON - (thru translator) denies role in plot; claims he helped deter assassination of ambassador Thomas Pickering.] Sec. last month for Pickering when he accompanied Salvadoran President Jose Napoleon Duarte recalled, shown. [Senator John EAST - thinks D'Aubuisson has been unfairly maligned.] Senator Jesse Helms' staff noted orchestrating D'Aubuisson's current visit; use of that fact by Helms' senatorial opponent noted, shown. [HELMS - criticizes his opponent.] Admin.'s political motive in granting D'Aubuisson visa mentioned.
