(Ostend, Belgium) Salvage operations reported beginning tomorrow; current status of wreck described, shown. USSR noted purchasing radioactive waste for conversion into fuel. Concerns of environmental groups such as Greenpeace and French atomic authority noted. [French atomic energy authority safety director Pierre TANGUY - explains lack of danger from radioactivity, but expresses his concern over chemical pollution of region.] [Nuclear safety consultant Shoja ETAMAD - cites lack of experience in dealing with such accidents.] Credibility of officials involved considered in light of varying accounts issued following sinking.
