(Studio) US, North Vietnam discussions inconclusive. North Vietnam says Cyrus Vance threatened renewed bombing of North Vietnam if Communists attack Saigon. United States says North Vietnam warned of serious consequences if South Vietnam cities molested.

(DC) Vance statement made at L. B. Johnson's direction. Attacks on South Vietnam cities thought probable. Enemy troops move from Cambodia border sanctuaries. United States planes alerted; North Vietnam targets chosen. Stepped up North Vietnam activity may be for effect on Paris Peace Talks. President Johnson said not bluffing with regard to resumption of bombing.
