Thieu distrusts Kissinger; feels he does not properly present South Vietnam position to White House Haig enjoys Thieu's confidence, and plays expanding role in Paris talks. Duc talks tomorrow with Secretary of State Rogers.

(Kien An, North Vietnam) [October 30 film shown.] Tren Hung Dow street in Kien An, North Vietnam, shows extensive bomb damage. (10 mile from Haiphong.) North Vietnam say town bombed 3 times this year - August 28, September 11, and September 14. Town had 75,000 pop., and no military targets. Many people driven to country by city bombing.
(Dan Phong, North Vietnam) Rice coop. here doing well. Coop. manager says production up 300% since 1959. Because of school bombings, parents send children to countryside, but many rural schools also bombed. Reporter concludes city destruction massive and indiscriminate; North Vietnam people not hostile; crops good; morale high.
