Privileged generally managed to avoid draft.] Vietnam vets. came home 1 by 1, unlike World War II vets. who came home together after war over. [Lonnie GENTRY - says transition from Vietnam to civilian life in United States difficult.] Many Vietnam vets. found GI Bill inadequate for schooling, others could find no jobs. Georgia state Senator Max Cleland is Vietnam veteran Is triple amputee and is exception to rule. [CLELAND - says many Vietnam vets. had no reason for fighting and psychologically confused by war. This impedes their ability to function normally as civilians.] [K.C. MARKS - says was in Vietnam when Martin Luther King killed. Made him very bitter.] [Jim DUGGAN - says has no use for 65 year old men sitting safely at home making decisions that get young people killed in foreign countries.] [Arthur COHEN - says fought but can't find job.] [Larry MILLER - says people don't like to hire Vietnam vets.] [Ezekiel CHAPLIN - says government doesn't need vets. anymore so just throws them out.] While most Vietnam vets have returned to useful lives, for many others there is no peace with honor.
